Employer brand is what the labour market thinks of a company as a place to work: its own employees, its candidates, the people who left. It is formed by experience rather than communication — a departing sales assistant's account outweighs any publication about values.
What it is actually made of
In high-volume hiring, employer brand consists almost entirely of mundane things: whether pay arrives on time and matches what was promised; whether the schedule is known in advance; whether applications get answered; how people are hired and how they are let go. Each of those promises is either kept by a system or not kept at all.
So employer brand cannot be built by a campaign: any gap between what was promised and what happens comes back as reviews. A company whose offer disagrees with its payslip earns a reputation faster than it can publish an article about caring for people.
What can be measured
Employer brand looks unmeasurable, but it has quite concrete indicators.
- eNPS and its trend — how willing your own employees are to recommend the company.
- The share of candidates who came through employee referrals: the most honest measure, because the referrer stakes their own standing.
- Offer-to-start conversion and the reasons for declines: systematic declines after an offer mean promises and terms do not match.
- New-hire turnover: it shows whether what the candidate was told matched what they found.
How this works in Verifix
Verifix covers the material half of the promises: the schedule is visible in the app ahead of time, the payslip is itemised, requests do not go missing, documents are issued on time, and the offer and the contract are built from the same data.
Response speed is part of the brand too: Recruit collects candidates from every channel into one funnel, so an application is not left unanswered for three days — which in high-volume roles is what decides whether the person shows up.
In short
Employer brand is built not by communication but by promises matching reality. A gap between the offer and the payslip damages it faster than any campaign repairs it.
